Hello all and happy finals season! This year, the Victoria College Commuter Dons have you covered for all the types of moods you will go through as a student! My music taste changes depending on the time of the year and I thought it was important to revamp the Spotify playlists to fit those needs. Here are some the playlists we released for that purpose:

“Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves
  1. Back2Vic: link. AKA: The go to playlist to get you motivated and excited to go Back to Vic!

“Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves: This classic song is an oldie, but feels like it was written yesterday with it’s high energy tempo and ecstatic vocals. It is pretty much guaranteed to put you in a better mood and may even cause you to break out dancing with your friends!

“Unwritten” Natasha Bedingfield: This song is the epitome of motivation with it’s encouraging lyrics and up tempo beats. It’s about living life to the fullest and self-love which is exactly what folks need when beginning school or when they need that extra umph to feel better.

“Octopus’s Garden” by the Beatles: This song was actually submitted by a Victoria College student! I thought it was the perfect, fun, upbeat and silly song to put you in a good mood with its creative lyrics and lovely tune. As a fun side note, it’s the second song Ringo Starr ever wrote for the Beatles and he sings on it as well!

“Love Affair” by UMI

2. Morning Commute Classics: link. AKA: You’re trying to relax on your commute even though there is a TTC delay on Line 1.

“Love Affair” by UMI: Serene and chill song that you can listen to while making your morning tea or coffee and checking phone notifications. Perfect to ease you into the rest of your morning with this calm song.

“Back in the USSR” by the Beatles: The Beatles make another appearance on our playlists! This is a more upbeat song that can be used to help you get out of bed or help you stay awake at the very least!

“Paris Nights/New York Mornings” by Corinne Bailey Rae: This song feels like sunshine on a nice spring day. It’s another upbeat song with lovely singing and lyrics to put you in the best morning mood.

“Study Jazz Sessions” by Jazz Sessions

3. Study Sessions: link. AKA: You have to focus on getting your assignment done a few hours before the deadline.

“Study Jazz Sessions” by Jazz Sessions: We included a few songs without any lyrics because some folks study best with this type of music. Enjoy the serene jazz tunes as you work on your assignment!

“Vienna” by Billy Joel: For those who do not mind studying with lyrics, this is a more upbeat song than the typical study songs, however, do not knock it before you try it! The beautiful piano ballad with the sad lyrics make for a perfect experience when finishing up final projects.

“The Arrival of Kai” by Hans Zimmer: If this song sounds familiar, this may be because it is in the Kung Fu Panda 3 soundtrack! It starts off very much with a classic Disney tune but then transitions into an adventurous and curious beat with Chinese inspired melodies throughout the song.

These are 3 of playlists we created for some of the different moods we may face! Do you stick to one playlist when studying? Do you have multiple playlists for every possible mood you’re feeling? Or do you prefer to study without music? I’d be happy to chat about music, school, or life whenever — feel free to reach out on Instagram @viccollegelife!
