Study Smarter
Hey Vickies!
We know that midterm season isn’t easy! That’s why this week’s blog will focus on ways to make the most out of reading week to get ahead and prepare for upcoming assessments!
Make a List!
One of the best ways we have found to keep a clear head and positive outlook when the workload builds up is to list all the things you have to do. Having a running, imaginary list in your head of your workload can be very overwhelming. You will often trick yourself into thinking you have more to do than in reality.
Make a list of readings with page numbers, assignments, and missed lectures that you need to review over reading week. There’s nothing more satisfying than putting a big tick or line through an item on your to-do list!
Study something every day!
Have you ever heard the phrase, “Want something done? Ask a busy person!”? This is because people who are very busy tend to be highly motivated since they need to complete all their tasks. Of course, rest is very important, but keeping in the rhythm of working on something every day will prevent the “lazy” from kicking in.
Do something fun every day!
Utilizing reading week to stay on top of your studies is great, but it’s important to also give yourself a break. Doing something fun, for you, every day will prevent “burn out” and help you to feel like you got the most out of your reading week.

Schedule your studying
In addition to making a list of the tasks you need to complete, it can be extremely helpful to budget out your time. Guesstimate how long it will take you to complete a given task, and put it into a schedule to plan out your day and make sure that you get all of your tasks completed!
Prioritize Sleep
I know it sounds super cliché, but sleep is VERY IMPORTANT! Your brain needs time to reset, and believe it or not, studies have shown that sleeping after studying actually helps you retain information better.
